Last week was International Day of Rural Women and SRMG launched our first ‘Rural Women’s Day’ campaign to raise the profile of the wonderful ladies within our sector!
We had lots of ladies participate and the SRMG team narrowed all the entries down to 8 finalists.
We then passed these profiles onto one of our Regional Chairmen, who had the difficult task of choosing a winner!
“Mel has spent all her life deeply involved in all aspects of Scottish country life, from hospitality to fishing, from breeding gun dogs to picking up, from artwork to community service. Recently she was awarded a British Empire Medal for services to the rural community and the arts. Out of a very strong list of candidates I have selected Mel Shand as this year’s well deserved winner.“
